002Sunday I walked over to the lake and was drawn to an unusual sight – a huge ship sitting in the harbour. I was intrigued as it entered the wharf waterway by the Redpath Sugar Refinery.


It seems everyone else around was just as mesmerized by the ship as I was. Even today, people were taking note and photos.

The Redpath Sugar Refinery has been operating at this site since 1958 and is one of the last functioning remnants of our industrial heritage. Along with the wafting scent of sugar, you’ll also find a beach, television/radio complex, college and condos on this part of the waterfront.
